Another Movember in the Books for Team Blue Point Brewery

On November 1st, men across the globe began growing mustaches in honor of Movember, a silly name that supports a very serious cause: mens health. You may already know that Movember raises money and awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, but even we were surprised to find out that they fund support of mens mental health issues as well.

This is the third year that Beer Loves Company participated on the Blue Point Brewing Co. team. Blue Point fully supports the cause, assembling a dream team of facial hair and rewards participants with prizes and awesome events. This year there was both a pre and post Movember party at the brewery; the former involved free shaves and the latter featured beer, raffles and an awful lot of moustaches that were noticeably absent just 30 days prior. Though Kevin was able to grow a modest mustache, we were all pretty surprised that Alicia had a full Tom Sellick going after only a couple days. We want to thank all our generous friends, families and supporters who donated and helped us and Team Blue Point raise over $8,000, with a few checks still in the mail . Though Movember is over, the support for mens health continues year round, so visit Movember Headquarters to get involved. keep reading...

Movember is Coming…

Edible New

It’s that time of year again. The time when bearded men transform themselves into unrecognizable baby faced boys. When glorious mustaches get shaved off for a greater good. Of course, we’re talking about Movember.

In case you aren’t familiar with it, Movember is a fun way to raise money and awareness for prostate/testicular cancer and mens mental health, while not having to shave for the entire month of November. The cause isn’t limited to men, as women are also encouraged to participate (no mustache required). Every year Blue Point Brewing Co. assembles a team of hair growing fundraisers and this time is no different. keep reading...

Win a Keg of Blue Point Brewing Company Beer of Your Choice While Supporting Long Island Cares!

Thanks to Kevin’s team leading Movember fundraising efforts we were awarded a 1/2 barrel keg of Blue Point Brewing Company beer. Pretty good right? Grow a moustache, raise some money and win beer. Well as much as we enjoy BPBC beer and wouldn’t mind having it on tap at here at home, we have decided to keep up the charitable theme and raffle off the keg.

The raffle will take place at the Long Island Beer and Malt Enthusiast (LIBME) meeting this Wednesday, January 8 at Bobbique in Patchogue. Tickets will be 1 for $12 or 2 for $20, with all proceeds going to Long Island Cares. The winner will receive a certificate which they can turn in at Blue Point Brewing Company to receive a keg of their choice based on current availability. keep reading...

BUY A SHIRT = HELP THE PHILIPPINES

20131115-152337.jpg

$20 per shirt + $5.95 priority shipping = $25.95

Or, if you are local and see us around (or want to make it a point to), you can pick up your shirt in person for $20 flat.

FROM NOW THROUGH CHRISTMAS 100% OF OUR NET PROCEEDS FROM SALES OF OUR T-SHIRT WILL GO DIRECTLY TO ARCHITECTURE FOR HUMANITY IN AN EFFORT TO HELP THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES.

Our friends at the The Brewers Collective had an awesome idea. They will be donating 50% of their t-shirt sales for the rest of November to the Red Cross in an effort to help the people of the Philippines. We can relate in some part as Long Islanders having dealt with Hurricane Sandy last year but cannot fully imagine what the people of the Philippines must be going through right now in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. Our best wishes and hearts go out to those who were affected. keep reading...

Long Ireland Beer Company + Greenport Harbor Brewing = Local Hop Support

Tomorrow, Friday September 20, 2013, Long Ireland Beer Company & Greenport Harbor Brewing will both be releasing their recently brewed fresh hop ales. Long Ireland will be hosting a release party at their brewery in Riverhead (817 Pulaski St) from 3-9 pm where both beers will be for sale. All proceeds from wet hop beer sales during the event will be donated right back to Condzella Hops and Wesnofske Farms, who supplied the hops for these brews. John Condzella and Justin Wesnofske will both be in attendance talking about hops and ready to field any questions you may have. Fresh hopped ale is best consumed when it is fresh (go figure) so don’t wait to pick up a bottle. The supply is limited and once it is gone you will not have a chance to try it again until 2014. keep reading...
