Movember – Moustaches > Cancer

This November the BLC team will be taking part in Movember – a program dedicated to battling men’s health issues and promoting awareness. Male participants sign up, shave off any facial hair on the first and grow out a flavor-saver for the entire month. Donations are accepted to help in the fight for men’s health. Female Movember members champion the cause and also accept donations.

This means Kevin will be growing a moustache, or lip jacket, to boldly bring awareness to these issues. Alicia will be supporting (tolerating) his “Ron Swanson” along the way and will probably sport a faux ‘stache on and off through the coming weeks. A wonderful mix of fun, knowledge and fund raising: sweet.

We encourage everyone to get involved by either participating or, if you are in the moustache challenged 50% of the population, donating. The money raised goes to men’s health programs which we are assuming includes seminars on how to keep your facial hair in fighting shape. Really though it goes to prostate cancer research, education and awareness in addition to foundations that focus on other men’s health issues.

Here is the link to donate to the Beer Loves Company team and a link to Movember if you would like to participate in any way.

Ready, set, grow!

OVERVIEW OF MOVEMBER (via Movember.com)

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.

Once registered at www.movember.com, men start Movember 1st clean shaven. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.
